Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging

What is infrared imaging?
Digital infrared thermal imaging is a totally non-invasive clinical imaging procedure for detecting and monitoring a number of diseases and physical injuries, by showing the thermal abnormalities present in the body. It is used as an aid for diagnosis and prognosis, as well as monitoring therapy progress, within many clinical fields, including:

Neurology
Rheumatology
Oncology
Chiropractic
Physiotherapy
Sports Medicine
Dentistry
Pediatrics
Breast Health
Orthopedics

PROCEDURE
Unlike most diagnostic tests digital infrared thermal imaging is non-invasive and there are no risks or side affects.

Infrared images can be taken of the whole body or just areas being investigated.

The digitized images are stored on a computer. Your report is color printed and a copy can also be sent to your health care professional.

Digital infrared imaging is useful in the diagnosis and treatment of various pain syndromes and is also useful in the early detection of breast cancer.

Digital infrared imaging is unique in its capability to show physiological change and metabolic processes. It is a useful complimentary procedure to other diagnostic tools. Digital infrared thermal imaging is very cost effective, risk free, and provides instant images.

RECOGNITIONS
Digital infrared thermal imaging has been recognized as a viable diagnostic tool since 1987 by the: AMA Council on Scientific Affairs, ACA Council on Diagnostic Imaging, Congress of Neurosurgeons, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

NECESSITY FOR INFRARED IMAGING
The following procedural items are considered necessary for diagnostic infrared imaging:

  • When a study is ordered by a licensed physician.
  • When a study is ordered following a history and physical examination and the result of which presents a clinical question best answered by infrared imaging.
  • Infrared imaging may frequently be required immediately or shortly after injury in cases clinically suspicious for reflex sympathetic dysfunction (complex regional pain syndrome, RSD, causalgia, and sympathetically-maintained pain).
  • Infrared imaging may frequently be required immediately or shortly after injury in cases where the physician is suspicious for vascular injury or neuropathy.
  • Follow-up infrared imaging studies may be required.
